Natural sugaring was introduced to me when I was 14 by an Egyptian friend. Now, we are the biggest producer of natural sugaring in Thailand. Our sugaring, is a thick paste which can be spread on your skin, pat a strip of cloth on, and whip the sugar and hair off. It works well, we find it not too painful once you know what to expect. The thick version ( hand sugaring ) is also available. These sugaring are not the same product as “ready to use wax strips” which contains resins and gums. Natural sugaring grips hair well, and give much better results than ready to use wax strips.
One point about sugaring is it is not easy to do it yourself and this tends to give people the wrong impression of sugaring. In Thailand, we sell services, i.e. hair removal with sugaring. Proper technique is important for sugaring. With hand sugaring, beautician needs to be trained and experience. I believe in sugaring, now with continued use, i do not have much hair and sugaring, when used at room temperature, or body temperature, is kind to my skin.
Response from Carl: Thanks for the submission, Darika. I’ve tried sugaring myself and I suspect many readers will be interested to learn about your products.
Thanks also for explaining the difference between sugaring and wax strips.
